We delight in God.
We recognize that there is no lasting joy, love, or life apart from God, who made us to be in relationship with Him. He is the Wellspring, and we long to drink deeply from Him. God asks us to love Him and follow Him wholeheartedly, sacrificing our time, energy, money, and gifts. Yet, we are learning that these sacrifices seem small compared to the joy of His presence with us. This world is a difficult place to love Him, and we are grieved in our failures. Yet, we come to Him with the assurance that His love in Jesus Christ is greater than our failures. God teaches us through His Word; He leads us by His Spirit; He meets with us as we gather together.
We need each other.
God did not make us to live alone. When we enter into a relationship with Him, we are bonded to all those who know Him. Just as members of a family want to support, care for, encourage, love, speak honestly with, and carry the burdens of one another, we long to do the same. Our gatherings are often full of laughter, and in difficult times we cry together. We have different gifts, jobs, experiences, opinions, interests, but we are united in our delight in God. We come together for His sake and work together to carry out what He wants us to do. Just as families sometimes fail to love each other, so do we. But we try not to let our failures divide us. Instead, we work to give and receive forgiveness and get over our differences because of our common bond of Jesus Christ.
We welcome others to join us.
We know that Christ is more valuable than we can express. This fact makes us want to invite others into our community and experience what it means to know God. We open our arms without judgement and ask others to join our family. We have nothing else to offer except Christ and what He has done for us. But we are confident that the bond of Christ is evident among us. Because Christ came as a servant, we look for opportunities to serve our communities and the world in tangible ways. It’s our hope that our communities are more peaceful, loving, and just because of Wellspring’s presence.
